Dreem is equipped with several sensors:
- 6 EEG electrodes (4 frontal electrodes, 2 rear electrodes). Thanks to these sensors, Dreem can measure your brain waves (also known as electro-encephalogram, or EEG), essential to accurately tracking sleep. The rear electrodes, custom-designed for Dreem, are meant to achieve a good measurement even when going through thick layers of hair.
- A pulse oximeter, enabling us to monitoring the user's heart rate and blood oxygen saturation.
- An accelerometer to measure movement and breathing patterns.
Dreem's sensors, along with its machine-learning algorithms, have been shown to identify sleep stages comparably to a polysomnography (PSG) recording, labeled by sleep experts.
